Indonesia Country Team

In each country, the United Nations system works as a team to develop the best strategy to respond to national needs and plans, building on agency assets. The Resident Coordinator (RC) is typically the most senior UN representative in-country. The Resident Coordinator convenes regular meetings of the UN Country Team to ensure effective and efficient coordination of among all agencies. The Country Team is composed of representatives of operational UN agencies on the ground and other UN affiliated agencies active in the country.

In Indonesia, the UN Country Team also functions as the Disaster Management Team and is responsible for overseeing emergency relief efforts when a natural disaster strikes. In the event of a sudden-onset disaster like the 26 December 2004 Tsunami in Aceh, the Disaster Management Team is often the first to respond to the crisis, before other international relief agencies arrive.
