This Conference urged the need for governments and communities to seriously commit to disaster risk reduction in their social an economic development activities. During the Conference, the Hyogo Framework for Action and Declaration was formulated and ratified by member countries. The Hyogo Framework for Action (HFA) 2005-2015: Building the Resilience of Nations and Communities to Disasters is a guide for all stakeholders on disaster reduction efforts for the next 10 years and beyond. All countries in the Asia and Pacific Regions, including Indonesia, have a role and responsibility in implementing disaster risk reduction using the guiding principles and priority areas offered by the HFA. The Government of Indonesia has embraced HFA where DRR has become part of the national development plan and one of nine priorities of the development plan. |
